Muizenberg and Surrounds

Muizenberg or “Muizies” as it’s colloquially referred to, is one of the trendiest and friendliest coastal towns in Cape Town. Home to the oldest surf shop in Cape Town and the Surfing capital of the Southern Peninsula, “Surfer’s Corner”.

The beachfront is jam-packed with buzzing activities and diverse well-known eateries. Walk along the boardwalk from Muizenberg to St James. (where Cecil John Rhodes built his ‘cottage-by-the-sea) Enjoy the sound of the waves and gaze upon the magnificence of the False bay coastline. A must-see for any local or visitor.

Muizenberg is bursting with historical remembrance of the Battle of Muizenberg, there is a fort on the hillside. There are also Cannons from that era mounted at "Het Posthuys", the Muizenberg Park and on the train station.

Muizenberg boasts incredible natural beauty, enjoy the Zandvlei estuaries’ beautiful grounds for Bird watching and on lead dog walking, or take a hike up the mountain reserve nearby to enjoy the panoramic views, and admire the Fauna and Flora unique to the Western Cape.

Muizenberg includes a developing extension, Costa da Gama, which consists mainly of secure complexes/estates, the largest being Capricorn beach estate which offers residents a number of swimming pools, well-kept parks and a lovely green belt. Only a small portion of Costa da Gama consists of completely free-standing homes.

Muizenberg and surrounds is the place to see and place to be if you would like a mix of laid back bohemian coastal lifestyle, which is still close to the City. (Short trip on the M5 to CBD) There are also many co-working spots available to use since Covid-19 making Muizenberg a desirable location for work from home individuals.
